VS Code Java support extension does not have its own specific files for defining Java projects. Instead it uses existing information maintained for existing tools such as build tools. Currently it supports resolving projects from artifacts from the following Java tools.

The extension also supports a linked mode that it falls back to when it can not resolve the project information for a Java file.
